I am in a rut. Ski all weekend. Slug all week. Bright sunshine, cold temperatures. Day after day after day.

Last weekend was pretty good. We skied both days. The conditions continue to be a little hard packed, but we have found some fun. We ran into a coworker who is a ski patroller late in the day. We took a run with her and another patroller down North Face. The snow balls were really cutting loose and rolling down the hill. The little snow balls were bouncing in the sunlight and looked like sparkles dancing all around me. I was laughing hysterically. The snow was soft enough to set an edge in so it was fun. We ended the day with a top to bottom nonstop run, but couldn’t get to the bottom any quicker than we have before.

We tried again early on Sunday and it had firmed up a little. We met another coworker on the easy slopes and skied with her for a few hours. Then we headed back to the top. We started with a lap of bumps. The bumps were well formed with deep icy troughs between huge piles of firm snow. It was like skiing in the East. We followed that up with a top to bottom run on the groomed. Kris wanted to go all the way to the top one last time for a top to bottom bump run. We can’t do that nonstop, but we ran some long stretches of banging along in the bumps without stopping. We were pretty tired Sunday night.

We had a fancy dinner out on Tuesday. We had a gift card to use. It was a restaurant that we have been meaning to try. It was really good, but the flavors were kind of bold. I don’t think this one will be high on our list.

Last night we took a walk on the greenbelt. The temperatures have finally moved up a few degrees and the sun doesn’t set until after eight. In fact, I am writing this at 8:30 and it is still pretty light outside. The trail is covered with about a foot of packed snow. The handrails on the bridges seem really short. We did see a moose resting in the snow along the trail.
