Spring skiing reached its pinnacle this weekend. The sun was bright. The temperatures were comfortable. The snow was awesome. I felt tight and tentative on Saturday. I was concerned that my knee might have a problem so I was afraid to make right turns. After riding my bike three days in a row, the fatigue was making my legs sluggish. I was afraid to make sudden moves and I didn’t feel like I could make sudden moves. I made casual turns which lacked rhythm or aggression.

My legs loosened up on Sunday. I felt comfortable. I was able to make aggressive turns down aggressive lines in the bumps. The snow was soft but not sticky. It was a great day of skiing.

We only skied the afternoons. Skiing is hard work in spring conditions so a few hours is more than enough. We went shopping in the mornings and purchased a few more items for camping. We got sleeping bags, cookware, tableware, and a couple chairs. Our tent arrived. We tried to set it up in our bedroom, but the ceiling isn’t high enough. The tent looks as good as I had hoped. It is well built and not too difficult to set up. It packs up neatly and easily and fits in the truck well. All this new gear will save our backpacking gear for backpacking while improving our comfort on weekend trips.
