The big surprise today was that I didn’t get the supervisor position. After 4 months of acting in the position, they gave the job to a coworker of mine. I can see why they made the choice they did. Her resume is more focused to air quality work. I wasn’t really expecting this though since I don’t have much respect for her contribution. It will be a bit of a challenge going to work after they make the announcement. I will survive. I have worked for plenty of people I didn’t respect.
This does reduce the stress related to contemplating a recent recruiting call. My contributions and reputation have gotten me some attention from one of the big oil companies. It is very early, but I sent my resume yesterday. Finding out today that I am not getting the supervisor job makes me laugh that I had hesitations about sending the resume. Life is amusing.
Last night we had a party. All the people from my office who ski were over for a ski waxing party. It was a little crowded in our tiny condo, but it was quite fun. And 13 inches of snow fell on the top of Alyeska last night. We don’t have any on the ground here in town right now. It has been a little on the warm side, as warm as 45. Alyeska is still listing opening day as November 17. Hopefully that will happen. I am ready to ski.
